The 100 Day Project began on February 18th, 2024. This is the second year that it’s begun in February, I think. Prior, it’s begun in April. And is followed by the ICAD challenge.

“When I’m creating, that’s my ladder to a better place. I build armor around myself when I create. I begin to feel more entitled to happiness and joy. I feel more aligned with what’s important to me.”

This is my 8th time participating in the100 Day Project. And I’m glad I came back to this challenge this year because more than ever, I need to hear myself prioritize my creativity. There’s magic here in this devotion to my creative self. When I make stuff, I do not doubt it is good for me. Plus, the project gives you the opportunity to structure play time and experiment. Why wouldn’t you want that help? Or that raise in your self-esteem?

As you may remember, my relationship with my self-esteem has been a rollercoaster ride all of my life. I regularly fall into dark holes and struggle to climb out of them. But creativity is my ladder to a better place. I build armor around myself when I create.

I begin to feel more entitled to happiness and joy.

I feel more aligned with what’s important to me.

This year, I’ve reverted to my default and favorite medium of collage. I needed to be doing this and the 4 x 6 index card size makes it really doable. I’m also enjoying throwing in different mediums including the washi tape that I’d treated myself to for Christmas. I have also decided that there always needs to be either a critter or a human in each piece so there’s a subject.

Remember, drops in the bucket fill the bucket up.

One little thing a day adds up to a body of creative work and that is a worthy endeavor.
