My best friend took me to an authentic El Salvadoran restaurant in Delaware the other day. It’s in the back of a Hispanic grocery store where the ceiling is filled with pinatas with Disney characters on them. And we had the most amazing homemade tacos and pupusas and pastelitos. My friend and I were in heaven and thanked each other for being the kind of people we are to enjoy this experience together.

I am a dedicated declared foodie. I adore food and am always in search of a new interesting culinary experience. I find this is a way to travel without leaving home. But when I can, I do love to travel and  to eat. When in New Orleans, of course I had beignees at the Cafe Du Monde and raw oysters on the half shell. I was also turned on to Muffaletta olive spread. And today I made the sandwich with the Italian charcuterie and fresh tomatoes.I Cook and I Eat on Shalavee.com

At any given time in my refrigerator, there will be leftovers marked jambalaya, polenta, shakshuka, ratatouille, and tzatsiki. What I love is simple food with a lot of flavor. The more vegetables, the more glamor. And poaching eggs in shakshuka or ratatouille is to die for.

This week I have a chimichurri sauce in mind. And I need to make some English breakfast meat and potato hash with leftover tenderloin. This is a lifestyle of pleasure for me. I love cooking and eating with my family. The children aren’t completely on the page but I’m hoping after they get out in the world and see that not everyone cooks and eats as well as me, I hope they’ll become foodies themselves.

Bon Appetite Mes Copines!!!
