When I use the term Creative Soul Living, it sounds a little daunting. Like somehow, a highly actualized person has figured out how to live a perfect creative life with lots of yummy gooey creative time and function with the rest of her life easily. Idealistic life scored! But that is far from where I am and I’m still living creatively. How?

A creative life is much different than making a living from your creativity. You can make a living doing something for money and still live creatively and satisfying. The secret is how you regard the adventure of your life choices.

I cooked a soup yesterday. I had leftovers that needed using so I created a spin on Caldo Verde but with canned collard greens and chicken andouille sausage. And when I went to put away the leftovers, I considered all of the options one could choose to store leftovers. Am I round or square or glass or plastic? The cooking and the storing were both creative.

Every option you choose has creative opportunities. Drive a different route, take a bath not a shower, arrange your closet in colors, read a book instead of watch tv, or make a recipe you’ve been dying to try. There are options upon options available in every day to shake it up and live creatively.

Creative Soul Living just means that you recognize that and take that on proactively. Yes, make words and art regularly and with intention. Share that with the world please. And also find joy in the everyday in the little things that you choose to do with love and creativity.

My life is much richer for this awareness and I would love to hear if there’s a shift for you too?

  1. It took me years to realize this, the thing is that I was doing it all along, I’ve always been creative, and I don’t mean doing art but I didn’t see it. I had a revelation, an inner awakening when I was 50 and it was from that point on that I started to view my every day little things in a whole new way. Thanks for this post xo

YES! That is how it was for me as well Masha! I’ve always been like that. And never valued this in myself until more recent years. Perhaps it was crossing the 50’s threshold . Or finally shedding all the noise to see it.
      Thank you!
