Like my mother before me, I’m a collector of resources. Although my magazine collection is donated now, I still have a hidden collection. Bookmarks on the computer.

I’ve been collecting them for some time now. They’re harmless enough. Press save and they get stored. But when you open up that folder, they spill out. Their organization stopped a year ago. And now they’re just another pile. One that I’ve been meaning to get to since before I had Fiona.

I haven’t been sure what sort of blog I was and what sort of blogs I might want to follow. And what how to’s I might need. And so I kept bookmarking. Now I am officially in the hoarding zone of bookmarks. Even though they virtually take no space in the real world, they take up space in my brain.

Now I think I might be ready to sift through them. I might also be ready to decide what sort of blog I am. Or am not. Because both are equally important. Any thoughts on these subjects, I would love if you left them on your way out.

Love,

Shalagh

  1. LOVE your new tagline – “the art and mystery of housewifery” – and love that you are taking the bold step to define things a little more! Applause!

    1. I got the idea when we visited Williamsburg last Summer. I didn’t know what my blog wanted to be when it grew up. Now I have some ideas. Thanks for noticing.

  2. Yep. I periodically (every few years counts, right?) clean those bad boys out only to have them pile up again. I’ve even expanded my hoarding (now I have evernote AND instapaper, wheeee). Please share anything you learn in the process. I say bookmark all loved websites so you can amalgamate your blog “types” into one list. The theme can be “I like it”.

    1. You and your toys. Evernote and Instapaper? Indeed. Amalgamation I like. As a word and a concept. Liking it has become so cliched though, dontcha think? And then I got to thinking, Are bookmarks a part of my mail program or my web browser or just my windows set up? Because there has to be a more visually pleasing system of storage, right? Systems are what I’m meditating on and absolutely, I’ll share. But I have a feeling It’s about getting clearer on what I need versus what I want, from life and the blog.

  3. OOhh, you computer smart girls. So it’s Firefox’s program? It’s not impressive. Neither is the fact that my fancy new Android phone has no audible signals that you’ve missed a call. Some kid sprayed perfume in my kid’s face at camp yesterday and I missed the call about it. It flashed at me. Your child has been accosted at Brittish soccer camp but you don’t know because your fancy phone can’t be bothered to beep. Technology is idiotic. And I need it.
