My girlfriend commented once after driving into Denton down my street, Gay Street, that there seemed to be a lot of crooked little houses.

And it reminded me of the poem.

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile.

    • The water tower and the two houses clad in beige siding. They were just covered in the past year. They sit just across from Eamon’s piano teacher’s house. I grabbed that shot on the way home. I really like it. Take up a camera oh fellow bloggers of America. There’s so much to shoot and upload.
      Thanks Amy,

    • Mark asked why I didn’t included a side shot of our house front because it is extremely crooked. I said it’s art.
      Thanks for stopping by sister.

  1. Shalagh,

We have some of those crooked houses in St. Michaels, too.
    There’s one that’s a shop that I have a hard time believing
is allowed to open to the public. It looks as though it should
have flying buttresses but then that would destroy the quaintness of it. St. Michaels is known for QUAINT.

    • Ha, a condemned building as a shop. Shop at your own risk. So is crooked quaint? And is QUAINT a five letter word when you reside in St. Mikes?
Thanks Ann for saying something, anything.

      Shalagh

    Shalagh,

I’ve always loved that little poem…your pictures have brought it to life for me!

    Hugs,

    Judy

    • When I Googled it, as one does, I discovered the longer version of this poem has a very dark ending I didn’t remember. And that it was based on a political event between Scotland and England. I thank you for your devotion and needed an excuse to take pictures of these houses. The last house is my favorite because the windows look like eyes.

    • Don’t kid yourself Lisa. They’re here, they’re there, crooked people are everywhere. And in the extended version of the poem, dude offs himself. So there. So swell to see you around the net. Hope life’s making you laugh.
      Love,
      Shalagh
